Limited large-paper edition, one of 500 copies printed on handmade paper, this being number 294, signed by James Stephens on the limitation page. Twelve pages including limitation, half-title, title, monochrome illustration and poem. Colour illustration by Althea Willoughby. A near fine copy with only the lightest handling.
Number 22 in Faber's celebrated Ariel Poems series. James Stephens (1880-1950), one of the leading figures of the Irish Literary Revival, is best remembered for works including The Crock of Gold and Deirdre. His brief poem The Outcast is complemented by two illustrations from Althea Willoughby (1904-1982).
