Limited signed edition. Large octavo. Original cloth-backed blue paper-covered boards, spine lettered in gilt on a blue label, preserved in the original printed paper dust jacket. One of 590 copies printed, of which 250 were offered for sale in the United Kingdom, signed by Sassoon on the title page. Near fine in the original dust jacket, the jacket lightly toned with a little wear to the spine and minor rubbing to the extremities. Some foxing and browning to the endpapers and preliminary leaves, the text otherwise clean and fresh. An excellent, well-preserved copy.
 
A finely printed limited edition of Sassoon's sequence of reflective poems, issued at a point when his writing had moved beyond the war poetry on which his reputation had first been established. Produced to a high standard and issued in a comparatively small limitation, near fine copies are increasingly difficult to find, making this an especially attractive example.
