A very good copy. Some light surface marking to boards and spine; minor rubbing at extremities. Internally clean. Lacking the original slipcase. Small and neat contemporary ownership inscription to front pastedown.
A finely produced limited edition of Paget’s historical essays, issued with a new introduction by Churchill. The essays revisit key episodes of the later Stuart period, including the Massacre of Glencoe, the career of the Duke of Marlborough, and the historiography of Macaulay, advancing a revisionist critique of the established Whig interpretation of British history. Churchill’s introduction is of particular note in its implicit defence of Marlborough.
