The 4th Duke of Wellington's Labels x 3 from c1890- 1910
WELLESLEY, Arthur Charles, 4th Duke of Wellington. Three printed labels relating to His Grace the Duke of Wellington, c.1890s–1910s.
Comprising: (1) printed address label, “His Grace The Duke of Wellington, 149 Piccadilly, London, W.”; (2) printed delivery label, “To be delivered to His Grace The Duke of Wellington’s servant, at Paddington Station.”; and (3) printed game label, “From the Duke of Wellington, K.G.”, listing pheasants, partridges, hares, wild duck and rabbits, with ruled sections for numbers “killed” and “dispatched”, retaining the original string tie.
Printed by London stationers, including W. Carpenter & Co., Stationers and Printers, 16 South Audley Street, Grosvenor Square. Small-format card labels, as issued. Light foxing and toning consistent with use; all three pieces intact and legible. Overall very good.
A coherent group of late-Victorian / Edwardian Wellington household ephemera, documenting address, railway delivery, and estate game despatch associated with the Duke’s London residence and domestic arrangements. The labels belonged to the Iron Duke's great grandson.
