Spa's Song (A Cocktail of Happiness) signed by Wynford Reynolds dated 1936
REYNOLDS, Wynford (1899-1956). 'Spa's Song (Ma's Too).' Signed illustrated sheet music for the Wynford Reynolds Octet at Felixstowe Spa Pavilion, 1936.
Four-page illustrated song sheet, words and music by Wynford Reynolds, issued as the signature tune of the Wynford Reynolds Octet during its 1936 season at the Felixstowe Spa Pavilion. Signed boldly by Reynolds in blue ink beneath his portrait on the front cover. 250x320 mm. Old horizontal fold, with light creasing, minor handling wear and a few short edge tears; nevertheless a complete and attractive very good copy.
A scarce piece of British light-entertainment ephemera, combining the complete printed score with a photographic view of the Felixstowe Spa Pavilion and a portrait of Wynford Reynolds. The song, copyrighted in 1934, was evidently issued in this form for the Octet's 1936 Felixstowe engagement. Reynolds would go on to retitle the composition "A Cocktail of Happiness".
Wynford Reynolds was a violinist, composer and conductor associated with British light music and broadcasting. His Octet performed at leading resorts and theatres, and he later became closely involved with BBC light-music programming.
