An uncommon report recording the proceedings of the British Dominions Woman Suffrage Union's Second Biennial Conference, held at the Central Hall, Westminster, on 5-7 July 1916, at the height of the First World War. The volume documents a gathering of suffrage delegates from across the British Empire, with representatives from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa joining British campaigners to discuss women's citizenship, nationality after marriage, education, industrial employment, war work and the future direction of the international suffrage movement.
 
The report includes lists of delegates and affiliated societies, financial reports, conference papers, resolutions and accounts of public meetings. Of particular interest are the sessions chaired by Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence, together with contributions from leading figures including Harriet Newcomb, Margaret Hodge and Dorothy Pethick. The concluding pages retain the original unused form for societies or new members wishing to affiliate with the Union. A scarce survival from one of the lesser-known organisations within the wider campaign for women's voting rights.
