Octavo, viii, 194 pp., with 4 pages of publisher’s advertisements at rear. Frontispiece portrait of the author. Original olive green cloth, gilt-lettered to spine. Original printed dust jacket. Book very good. Cloth clean and firm, light rubbing to extremities. Staple mark to front free endpaper, likely from a former loosely inserted paper with browning evidence of this; else Internally clean with light, even toning. Dust jacket good only, with losses to corners and edges, most noticeably to the upper edge of the front panel; some surface wear and creasing.

A theological work by Christabel Pankhurst, reflecting her post-suffrage transition from militant political activism to religious and prophetic writing. The book is structured as a series of essays interpreting contemporary political and social issues through the lens of Christian eschatology, with chapters addressing democracy, labour unrest, Zionism, European instability, and the perceived decline of constitutional order. One chapter, “The Votes of Women,” looks back critically at women’s suffrage, questioning the efficacy of the vote in the face of rising authoritarianism and extra-parliamentary power. It is a rare book to find with the jacket.
