Stipple engraving printed in brown ink, 210 × 165 mm (sheet). Oval bust portrait within rectangular plate mark; after a design by Samuel Shelley, engraved by Charles Taylor. With engraved title and line below: “Just like our purse-proud fellows here.” Wide margins; clear plate mark. Minor scuff to lower right corner of sheet, not affecting the image; otherwise in very good condition.
Issued as part of Taylor’s late-1780s series of literary and allegorical heads. The subject derives from John Gay’s poem Plutus, Cupid and Time.
