Photographic portrait postcard, 140 x 90 mm, captioned beneath the image: "Miss Charlotte Marsh, Organiser. The National Women's Social and Political Union, 4, Clement's Inn, W.C." Printed facsimile signature within the image. Divided postcard back printed in green; unused. A few negligible marks, otherwise near fine.
 
An attractive official W.S.P.U. portrait postcard of Charlotte Marsh, who joined the Women's Social and Political Union in 1907 and became one of its salaried organisers. An active militant suffragette, Marsh was imprisoned following protests against the Liberal government and in 1909 became one of the earliest hunger-striking prisoners to be forcibly fed. She later served as W.S.P.U. organiser in Oxford, Portsmouth and Nottingham. Portrait postcards such as this were sold to publicise leading campaigners and raise funds for the organisation.
