Official WSPU Song sheet 'Teribus' c1908-1912
WOMEN’S SOCIAL & POLITICAL UNION. Tune—“Teribus.” [Caption title:] Votes for Women. London, Hawick, and Galashiels: National Women’s Social & Political Union; printed and published by W. Henderson, 11 High Street, Hawick, [c. 1908–12].
Single printed leaf, 120 × 185 mm. Unbound, as issued. A particularly well-preserved copy, printed on toned stock; minor handling wear at extremities, but clean and sound, with no significant creasing or loss. Near fine.
The text is set to the Borders air “Teribus,” explicitly addressing “men of Border Burghs” and urging them to “Vote and keep the Liberal out,” a pointed reference to the Liberal government’s continued resistance to women’s suffrage in the years before the First World War. A strong example of regional WSPU propaganda in unusually nice condition.
