NICOLSON, Harold. Marginal Comment. January 6 - August 4, 1939.
London: Constable & Company Ltd., 1939.
First edition. 8vo. pp. 204. Original blue cloth, gilt to spine, in the original typographic dust wrapper. A near fine copy; a shade faded to the spine, wrapper exceptionally well preserved with slight rubbing and a few tiny marks only.
A collection of political commentaries first published in The Spectator. Nicolson records, almost in real time, the accelerating European crisis of 1939: Danzig, Anglo-Japanese relations, parliamentary debate, diplomacy, militarisation, and the visible collapse of the inter-war settlement. An especially attractive example, retaining its distinctive dust wrapper in near fine condition.
