First edition. Small 8vo. xviii, 511 pp., with one page of advertisements at the rear. Engraved frontispiece and numerous engraved illustrations and plans within the text. Contemporary red half-calf over red cloth boards, spine raised bands, gilt-ruled and lettered, gilt edges; yellow coated endpapers. Number “4” inked to front board. A very good copy: binding firm and clean, light rubbing at extremities, contents fresh.
An early manual addressing small-scale agriculture explicitly for a female readership, covering poultry keeping, dairying, pig husbandry, and associated domestic economies. A first-edition and uncommon in a smart contemporary binding.
