Single card, approximately 115 x 115 mm, written on one side. Embossed stationer's mark at upper left. Light traces of former mounting to the reverse, and pencil notes from previous owner, otherwise in very good condition.
 
A brief autograph note from the American philosopher, theologian and educator Noah Porter, President of Yale College from 1871 to 1886, and mountaineer addressed to the Rev. Henry Allon, the distinguished English Congregational minister, hymn writer and editor of the British Quarterly Review. Written during a visit to London, Porter arranges a meeting.
 
Porter was among the foremost figures in American higher education, serving as President of Yale College and publishing widely on philosophy, theology and education, while Allon was a non conformist minister and religious writer.
