LYTTON, Robert Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Earl of (1831-1891). Autograph letter signed concerning the publication of an unpublished poem.
Autograph letter signed "Lytton", dated 15 August 1883, on black-bordered Knebworth House, Stevenage mourning paper. A single sheet folded, written on two pages. Old central fold and very slight handling wear, otherwise in very good condition.
Lytton apologises for not having answered an earlier letter, explaining that he had been absent from home. He then submits an unpublished poem. Robert Bulwer-Lytton was a poet and diplomat. The son of the novelist Edward Bulwer-Lytton, he served as Viceroy of India from 1876 to 1880 and was created Earl of Lytton in 1880.
