A personal letter by the suffragette leader Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence, written during the First World War and reflecting on the loss of a friend.

 

Together with her husband Frederick Pethick-Lawrence, Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence was one of the central organisers and financiers of the Women's Social and Political Union, helping to transform the suffrage movement in the years before the First World War.
