A publishing letter from the Victorian author Jane Margaret Strickland (1800-1888), one of the notable Strickland literary family, sisters of Agnes Strickland and Susanna Moodie. In the letter Strickland asks Egan to assist by inserting a favourable review in “The Home Circle” of Mrs. Isabel Montgomery’s Christian Life, noting that its “extensive circulation” would aid “a noble charity”, namely the Hospital for Consumption. No other Jane Strickland letters traced in commerce at time of cataloguing and an interesting association to the recipient Pierce Egan.
