Addressed to Sir Philip Burne-Jones (1861-1926), portrait painter and son of Sir Edward Burne-Jones, best known for his painting The Vampire (1897). Fildes was among the leading British painters and illustrators of his generation, celebrated for The Doctor, illustrating for Charles Dickens and for his illustrations for The Graphic. A good association.
