Autograph letter signed by Princess Frederica of Prussia dated 1819
PRINCESS FREDERICA CHARLOTTE OF PRUSSIA, Duchess of York and Albany (1767-1820). Autograph letter signed, in French, to Mrs Jackson. Oatlands, 3 June 1819.
Three pages on a bifolium, 235 x 180 mm. Old folds, with mounting residue and remnants to the blank final page. Very good.
An autograph letter signed "F" by the Prussian princess, daughter of Frederick William II of Prussia and wife of Frederick, Duke of York, second son of George III.
Frederica thanks Mrs Jackson for a gift conveyed through Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg, widower of Princess Charlotte and future Leopold I, King of the Belgians. She also mentions forthcoming visits to Windsor and London, inviting her correspondent to dinner. Written from Oatlands, Surrey, her principal residence following her estrangement from the Duke. She was known to be eccentric, animal loving and popular, holding gatherings at her address. It is rare to find any correspondence from her.
