Autograph letter signed by artist Sir Frank Dicksee 1911
DICKSEE, Sir Frank (1853-1928). Autograph letter signed. 12 January 1911.
Single sheet, 180 x 115 mm, written on one side only, on Greville House, St John's Wood headed paper. Irregularly trimmed to the left edge, with a few minor marks, otherwise very good.
Dicksee writes that he is "a man of my word" and encloses "these lines of Watson's" which he had promised the recipient, adding that he believes they will agree that they are "fine". The accompanying enclosure is no longer present.
Sir Frank Dicksee was one of the leading British painters of the late Victorian and Edwardian period, celebrated for his historical and literary subjects as well as his society portraits. A Royal Academician from 1891, he later served as President of the Royal Academy between 1924 and 1928.
