Autograph letter signed and envelope from dandy / artist Count Alfred D'Orsay

D'ORSAY, Count Alfred (1801-1852). Autograph Letter Signed, to Madame Lefevre, introducing Mr Nicholson. Gore House, Saturday [c.1840s]. With the original autograph addressed envelope bearing D'Orsay's red wax seal.
 
Single sheet, folded to 100 x 160 mm, written in French on the first side only, with the original hand-addressed envelope to "Madame Lefevre, 30 Brook Street, Grosvenor Sq." The envelope retains D'Orsay's red wax seal to the reverse. Old folds, light age toning and opening wear to the envelope, otherwise a very good survival.
 
D'Orsay writes from Gore House: "Voici Mr Nicholson qui comprendra tres bien toutes vos intentions" ("Here is Mr Nicholson who will understand all your intentions very well"), introducing Mr Nicholson to Madame Lefevre before closing "Votre tout devoue".
 
Written from the celebrated Gore House, Kensington, home of Lady Blessington and one of the best-known literary and artistic salons of Victorian London, where D'Orsay stood at the centre of fashionable society. Frequented by leading figures including Dickens, Disraeli and Bulwer-Lytton, Gore House became synonymous with London's literary world during the 1830s and 1840s.
