Autograph fragment signed by King of the United Kingdom William IV
£60.00Price
WILLIAM IV (1765-1837), King of the United Kingdom. Autograph fragment signed "Clarence", before 1830.
Manuscript fragment, cut from the address or outer portion of a larger envelope, with several words in William's hand and signed "Clarence". Approximately 110 x 95 mm overall, laid down onto an old album or scrapbook leaf. Irregularly trimmed, handling marks and mounting to the reverse, but the manuscript and signature remain clear. Good.
William Henry was created Duke of Clarence and St Andrews in 1789 and used the title until his accession as William IV in 1830. This small autograph fragment therefore dates from his pre-accession years.
