An autograph signed letter by Adelina de Lara (1872-1962) undated but c1895-1910
DE LARA, Adelina (1872-1962). Autograph letter signed to an unnamed correspondent concerning recital repertoire.
17 Canfield Gardens, N.W. [undated, c.1895–1910].
One page, folded to form 4pp., written on first and third pages. Old adhesive marks in particular a circular mark on the first page, horizontal fold, otherwise very good.
A rare letter from the pianist, composer and celebrated pupil of Clara Schumann. De Lara apologises for a delay in replying as she was waiting to hear back about arrangements for a duet, and had been waiting for news. She confirms that any solos for the programme “will be: 1st part: compositions by Schumann and Brahms. 2nd part: Legende by Paderewski; Capriccio by Mendelssohn”.
A working letter showing de Lara planning a recital and selecting repertoire.
