A multi signed menu of editors and journalists of The Times Newspaper 1907
THE TIMES NEWSPAPER. Manuscript dinner menu signed by editors, correspondents and journalists of The Times. [United Service Club, London, 2 August 1907].
Manuscript dinner menu in blue ink on United Service Club card, 110 x 160mm, listing a formal French dinner service (Melon Glace, Consomme a la Nelson, Caneton froid de Cailles a la Russe, etc.). Reverse covered with fourteen contemporary pencil signatures. Old horizontal fold, some creasing and light wear. Very good.
An Edwardian clubland survival bringing together several prominent figures associated with The Times Newspaper during its late-Victorian and Edwardian period. Identifiable signatures include Sir Donald Mackenzie Wallace (foreign correspondent and editor), Valentine Chirol (journalist, historian and foreign editor), George Earle Buckle (editor of The Times from 1884-1912), Sir Robert Giffen (economist and former assistant editor of The Economist under Walter Bagehot), and John Woulfe Flanagan, remembered for his role in The Times campaign against Charles Stewart Parnell. A rare ephemeral survival.
