CHURCHILL, Winston (1874-1965). BARKER, Sir Ernest. Winston Churchill. [Jerusalem: Ministry of Information, 1944]. Hebrew edition.
Octavo. 64 pages. Original illustrated paper wrappers, with numerous black-and-white photographs throughout. Mild handling wear to edges and corners; a very good copy.
A scarce wartime Hebrew biography of Churchill, tracing his family background, military service and political career through to his leadership during the Second World War. The illustrations include photographs of his childhood and family, his service during the First World War, and his wartime activities as Prime Minister.
Sir Ernest Barker (1874-1960) was a distinguished British political scientist, formerly Principal of King's College London and the first holder of the chair of Political Science at Cambridge.
Kedem dates this Hebrew edition to 1944, preceding the recorded English Ministry of Information edition of 1945. No publisher is explicitly named: attribution to the Ministry rests on the title-page production code, G.P.D. 365/85, also recorded for the more common English edition.
