World Order Signed association by Henry Kissinger 1st / 1st 2014
First US edition and first print published by Penguin in 2014. This copy is in near fine condition. The wrapper is generally very clean with the odd mark on the back panel. There is some gentle rubbing to the top of the spine. It is not price clipped. The book has the tiniest wear to the spine and corner tips. Overall it is clean and free from previous owners marks. This first print copy is signed and inscribed by Henry Kissinger to Alistair Horne to the title page. There is also a letter from Kissinger's secretary that is loosely tucked into the front.
Horne was a journalist, biographer and historian, being the author to over 20 titles. He worked for the Daily Telegraph and was the official biographer for Harold Macmillan. He has won awards for his writing including the hawthornden and Wolfson history prize. The latter was for his work on 'A Savage War of Peace - Algeria 1954-1962' that got the notice of the US administration during the Gulf War. Kissinger recommended this title to George W. Bush, and Horne and the President met in 2007 to discuss the book and his views on the war.
In more recent times, Horne was offered the authorship for Kissinger's memoirs but he turned it down due to his age and the sheer amount of work that was needed. Instead he wrote a year in Kissingers life "Kissinger in 1973; a crucial year" this covered the end of the Vietnam War, Watergate and how Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize. A rare UK signed copy of Kissinger's biography and very scarce with the inscription and close association between the two.
