First illustrated edition. This is a near fine copy. The John Lawrence illustrated slip case is tight at the corners and is free from notable chips and marks. The dust wrapper is also free from notable chips and marks- it has not been price clipped. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a highly collectible illustrated title.  Set in southern England, around Hampshire, the story features a small group of rabbits. Although they live in their natural wild environment, with burrows, they are anthropomorphised, possessing their own culture, language, proverbs, poetry, and mythology.
