Twenty Years A-Growing by Maurice O'Sullivan 1st / 1st 1933
A first UK edition published by Chatto & Windus in 1933. This is a very good copy. The complete wrapper illustrated by Brien has been price clipped. It is toned to the spine. There is a tiny amount of wear to the corner tips. Overall the jacket is very complete. The book is in very presentable condition although a previous owner has signed her name to the front free end paper and she has also applied a bookplate and signed it to the next page also. Overall a very good copy.
O'Sullivan's classic memoir of growing up on the Great Blasket, a sparsely inhabited Gaelic-speaking island off the Atlantic coast of Ireland. With a glowing preface by E.M. Forster - whose support for the book helped to propell it to a wider audience.
