The Woman in Black by Susan Hill 1st / 1st 1983

First edition and first print published by Hamish Hamilton in 1983. This is a very good ++ copy. The unclipped wrapper (showing the correct price of £7.95) has some minor wear to the top of the spine and to the corners. The wrapper is very complete though with no chips. The book is very presentable, with no foxing to the pages or textblock and no previous owners names. Overall a very good ++ copy.

The Woman in Black is written in the style of a traditional Gothic novel. The plot concerns a mysterious spectre that haunts a small English town. A television film based on the story, also called The Woman in Black, was produced in 1989, with a screenplay by Nigel Kneale. In 2012, a theatrical film adaptation of the same name was released, starring Daniel Radcliffe. The wrapper is designed by watership down illustrator John Lawrence.
