The War the Infantry Knew by Captain James Dunn 1st / 1st 1938

London: P.S King and Son Ltd, (1938)

A scarce first edition and first print. This copy is in near fine condition. The boards are bright and show very little fading. There is very little wear at all. The spine is not sunned at all. The gilt titling is bright. The front free end paper has some spotting. But then all other pages are free from foxing and spotting. There is no previous owner’s ink. Overall a very collectable near fine condition.

A scarce title about the first world war with contributions from serving Royal Welch Fusiliers including Siegfried Sassoon who served as a captain. One of only 500 to be printed, it is a recollection from around 50 serving soldiers in diary form of their time in the conflict. Sassoon’s contribution is seen as an early draft of ‘memoirs of an infantry officer’. A scarce title especially so in this condition.
