The Last Sheaf by Edward Thomas 1st / 1st 1928

£450.00Price

First edition published by Jonathan Cape in 1928. This is a near fine copy. The plain brown dust wrapper is in excellent condition with no loss, chips or tears. It is not price clipped displaying 6s. net on the inside flap. There is a piece of archival tape to the reverse of the jacket. The green cloth boards are in great shape with no marks or fading. One of the corners is gently pushed. The front free and back free end papers have browning patches otherwise the pages are clean and without marks.

The author's brother compiled a score of papers that Thomas wrote in the preceeding two or three years to his death at Arras in 1917 during the great war. He contributed essays to journals and they have been put together including about Christina Rossetti, Insomnia and Goodwood races. A rare book to find from the soldier poet, with the jacket and in this near fine condition.
