The House of Defence signed by E.F Benson 1st / 1st 1907
First edition and first print published by Heinemann in 1907. This copy is in very good + condition. The boards are generally clean. There are a few small black marks around the title on the front board. There is some very light fading towards the bottom of the front and back panel. There is a previous owners bookplate to the inside board and a small abrasion patch towards the top of the front free end paper. Pages are very clean with very little if any browning or foxing. The author has inscribed in pencil on the front free end paper to his friend (and owner of the book plate) James Durham "for J.A Durham, with the authors best wishes (he is not drunk but writing in a cab)". Scarce with the authors inscription.
