The Firstborn signed by Christopher Fry 1st 1946 + typed memo / programme
First edition and first issue published by Cambridge University Press in 1946. This is a near fine copy. The wrapper is in complete condition with only minor wear. There is a faint ring on the back panel. It is not price clipped. The author has signed without dedication to the title page. It is rare to find signed and with the jacket in first print.
This signed title comes with an original programme of the play that ran from March 19th to 22nd 1947. In addition tucked into the front is a scarce typed memo or letter from the author I assume to the stage director or similar. He sets out his thoughts on costumes & settings. He draws by hand his idea for a terrace in one scene. The memo is dated 6th February 1947 only a month or so before opening night. The play is set in Egypt regarding Moses and the plagues. A scarce collection of papers relating to Christopher Frys 'firstborn' in particular with his typed memo.
