The Dead Zone by Stephen King 1st / 1st 1979
First UK edition and first print published by Macdonald in 1979. This copy is very good ++. The dust wrapper is very complete with no chips or any part missing. There are two small pieces of tape to the reverse of the jacket to provide support. It is not price clipped. The book is very presentable with only very light wear to the spine ends. There is no previous owners ink and no foxing at all to the pages or text block. Overall a very good ++ copy. A rare UK first.
The Dead Zone is Kings seventh novel and the fifth novel under his own name. It concerns Johnny Smith, who is injured in an accident and remains in a coma for nearly five years. Upon emergence, he exhibits clairvoyance and precognition with limitations, apparently because of a "dead zone," an area of his brain that suffered permanent damage as the result of his accident.
Though earlier King books were successful, The Dead Zone was the first of his novels to rank among the ten best-selling novels of the year in the United States.
