The Confort of Strangers by Ian McEwan 1st / 1st 1981

First edition and first print published by Jonathan Cape in 1981. This is a very good + copy. The wrapper has some minor rubbing to the bottom of the spine and along the top edge. It is not price clipped. The pages of the book have browned but there is no previous owners marks or foxing to the pages or text block. Overall it is a very good + copy.

The Comfort of Strangers is the author's second novel, and is set in an unnamed city (though the detailed description strongly suggests Venice). Harold Pinter adapted it as a screenplay in 1990, which starred Rupert Everett, Christopher Walken, Helen Mirren and Natasha Richardson. The film is set in Venice.
