First edition and first print published by Cape in 1987. This is a near fine copy. The wrapper is not price clipped and has very minimal wear. There are some very faded and occasional foxing marks to the inside front flap. The book is free from foxing or previous owner's ink. Overall a near fine copy. 
 
The Child in Time won the Whitbread Novel Award in the year it was published. The story concerns Stephen, an author of children's books, and his wife, two years after the kidnapping of their three-year-old daughter.
