The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder, 1st/1st, 1927
This is a very good ++ copy of 'The Bridge of San Luis Rey' by Thornton Wilder in first edition, first printing. London, Longmans Green and Co Ltd, 1927. The jacket is showing age related marks, as the corners and tail are slightly torn, it has not been price clipped, and is overall in near fine condition. The boards are without major chips and marks, but are visibly aged at the cloth. The binding is tight and the corners are sharp. The internal pages feature a slight discolouration due to age. The rough cut text blocks are slightly discoloured too, but remain in very good condition. This copy is free from previous owner's ink. Overall it is a near fine copy.
The name of the bridge is drawn from the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia in San Diego County, California. The Bridge of San Luis Rey won the 1928 Pulitzer Prize for the Novel, and remains widely acclaimed as Wilder's most famous work.
