The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison 1st / 1st 1979
First UK edition published by Chatto & Windus in 1979. A very good copy. The striking dust wrapper has been designed by Kate Cary. It has rubbing and general wear to the jacket edges and to the spine ends. There is a small pen mark to the bottom of the front panel. The book has been repriced with a publishers and previous sellers sticker to the inside flap. The same seller has imprinted a small address on the inside back board. The book is bumped to the spine. Overall a very good copy.
The Nobel Prize winning author's first novel, critically acclaimed and one of the most challenged books in the US due to the subject matters dealt with by Morrison. It was first published in 1970 but took 9 years to find its way to being published in the UK. A rare book to find as a UK first and with the fantastic dust wrapper art by Kate Cary.
