Susan Price or Resolution by Francis Brown [Jane Austen] 1st / 1st 1930
First UK edition published by The Bodley Head in 1930. This is a very good copy. The wrapper is complete and is not price clipped showing the price on the flap as 6/- net. On the reverse of the jacket, there is archival tape along the top edge and on the corners and spine end of the bottom edge. There are a couple of small closed tears that have been repaired with the archival tape, on the back panel. The book has some minor marks to the edges. The pages and text blocks are clean and the book is free from foxing or spotting. There is a previous owner's bookplate to the inside board of Patrick Hamilton and he has written his name on the front free end paper. A very good copy.
The author, Francis Brown, was Jane Austen's Great Grand-Niece and wrote two novels based on Austens work. The first was 'Dashwood' that was published in 1929. That was based on Sense and Sensibility. This is the follow up, a novel about Susan Price a character from Mansfield Park. A scarce title and in particular with the original dust wrapper.
