Seven Pillars of Wisdom Limited Edition by T.E. Lawrence 1st / 1st 1935
Limited Issue of the first edition, this being number 45 of 750. Published by Jonathan Cape in 1935. This copy is in very good condition. Without the card slipcase and the plain-paper dust jacket, usually discarded. Quarter pigskin is brittle with some loss to the top and bottom with edges rubbed also. Over brown buckram with crossed swords in gilt to front panel with marks to the front board and a couple of scratches to the back board. Titled in gilt to backstrip, patterned endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Pages clean with very little marks inside. No previous owner's names, plates or other ink. All plates and maps in inside as called for. the occasional edge wear / small tear to maps and fold outs.
Illustrated with three manuscript facsimiles and forty-seven plates including four in colour. The colour plates and facsimiles are unique to this limited edition.

Lawrence ('Lawrence of Arabia') while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
