Sailing Ships and Barges by Bernard Windeler & Edward Wadsworth 1st / 1st 1926
First and only edition. This is number 92 of 450 published by Frederick Etchells & Hugh Macdonald. This is a lovely near fine copy. The boards and cloth binding is in very nice order with no sunning, marks or wear. The cover is embossed in gilt and the spine bears gilt logos and lettering. The front free end paper has two small scorch marks otherwise there is very little markings or wear at all. The pages are free from foxing. The book does not have its slip case. Overall a near fine copy.
One of the Haslewood Books, the longer title is "Sailing Ships and Barges of the Western Mediterranean and Adratic Seas' It features 4 vignettes and 17 copper plates engraved by Edward Wadsworth. These have been coloured by hand by the illustrator. Bernard Windeler provides the brief commentary. A beautiful production made on hand made paper. It notes at the back that the copper plates have been destroyed. The map of the med at the back of the book is quite eye catching.
