A shortened and rewritten version of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, prepared by Lawrence for a general readership. The book presents a narrative account of the Arab Revolt of 1916–18, focusing on Lawrence’s own role as liaison officer and participant, the organisation of guerrilla warfare against Ottoman forces, and the political and military relationships with Arab leaders, particularly Feisal. The text omits much of the philosophical and autobiographical material of the earlier private edition of Seven Pillars, concentrating instead on the campaign narrative. A well-preserved example of Lawrence’s authorised abridgement.
