Planet and Glow-Worm signed association copy Edith Sitwell 1st / 1st 1944
First UK edition and first print published by Macmillan in 1944. This is a very good copy. The wrapper is hasn't been price clipped. There is wear to the corners and a tear to the top left of the front panel. There are several marks to the centre of the back panel. The very fragile wrapper has a piece of archival tape to the reverse that has repaired a tear at the bottom of the back panel. The books boards are very clean with only very minor wear to the spine ends. The pages are clean and free from marks. This is a scarce association copy inscribed on the front free end paper by Edith Sitwell to fellow author L.P. Hartley. The warm inscription says "for my dear leslie with love from Edith".
Edith Sitwell and L.P. (Leslie Pole) Hartley were friends and wrote to each other a number of times.
This is by the author's own description 'a book for the sleepless'. It is a short anthology of calming thoughts, poetry and short stories from the likes of william blake, john keats, marco polo and francis bacon. Rare with the inscription between the two authors.
