New Statesman Signed by Ralph Steadman 1st / 1st 1982

£125.00Price

The New Statesman orginal magazine from 17/24 December 1982. It is a christmas double issue. This copy is in very good or better condition. The pages have browned as to be expected but there is no loss and all pages are well bound. The odd crease mark but overall a very good or better copy.

This copy is of note, as the front cover has been illustrated by Ralph Streadman. It is of Margaret Thatcher and is titled ' Maggie & Child Christmas 1983'. The illustration shows Thatcher holding a baby. The baby is to represent unemployment and has 4 million written in the babies mouth. Ralph Steadman has signed in black ink his name and dated it a day before publication 16 Dec 1982. It is very rare to find a copy signed like this by the illustrator.
