First edition and first print published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1963. This is in very near fine condition. The crisp jacket retains all of its colour on the spine and to the panels. There are no chips or tears. There are some very minor creases to the corner ends of the cut out star on the front panel. The jacket is not price clipped retaining 15s net price as called for. The book is clean, without foxing or previous owners ink. The text block is clear. The boards are without marks. Overall a very near fine copy.
Francis Durbridge was a prolific screen writer for tv and radio in the 50's and 60's. He was the creator of the Paul Temple and Tim Frazer series. In 1956 he wrote a six part series called 'My Friend Charles" for the BBC staring Steven Murray in the leading role. Sadly the BBC have said the episodes have not survived in their archives. The story involved a harley street doctor that appears framed for muder as he discovers the body of a girl in front of his fireplace.... Durbridge then wrote this novel based on the series and it was published in 1963. It has become a rare title to obtain in nice condition.
