More for your Garden signed by Vita Sackville-West first edition 1955

8vo; publisher’s red boards with gilt lettering to the spine, with the unclipped dust wrapper; pp [ii], 176; the jacket has a handful of marks and stains to the upper panel and a toned spine, the book’s corners and edges have the occasional wear, the first couple of pages and the side text block has foxing and browning, overall a very good copy. 
 
First edition that has been inscribed by the author Vita Sackville-West to the front free end paper to gardening enthusiast Joan Parry, in the year of publication. It reads “Joanie from V. Xmas 1955”.  Joan Parry exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show at around that time and it looks like she was well acquainted with Vita Sackville-West. 
 
This is the third of four Gardening books that the author published in a sequence that started with ‘In Your Garden’ followed by ‘In your Garden Again’, and then following this title she published ‘More for your Garden Again’.  The books collated Vita’s articles that she wrote for the Observer, accompanied by illustrations and plates. They provided practical advice for the amateur gardener. This book has become rare and particularly so signed by the author.
