Knight of Germany Oswald Boelcke by Johannes Werner 1st / 1st 1933
London: John Hamilton (1933). First UK edition of this scarce biography especially so with the dust wrapper and in very near fine condition. The wrapper designed by Howard Leigh is in fantastic condition. There is very little if any wear. The book is sturdy and square. There is spotting to the top text block and occasionally to the side text block.
This is a biography of Oswald Boelcke, German flying ace, with forty vistories, ranked only second to Manfred Von Richthofen.
The Kaiser wanted him to stop flying to preserve him as a national hero, and so later in his career he instead toured the front and carried out inspections. Was a national hero through-out the war back home in Germany.
