In Ethiopia With A Mule Signed By Dervla Murphy 1st / 1st 1968

FIRST UK EDITION. Published by John Murray in 1968. The dust wrapper designed by Korin Keefe has been price clipped. Otherwise it is without fault. The book has occasional foxing to the side text block and front free end paper. Otherwise it is also in very presentable condition with no previous owner's ink. There is a publishers stamp to the front free end paper. It says "John Murray Showroom Copy. Not for Sale." Overall this is a near fine copy that has been signed by the author and adventurer Dervla Murphy to the title page without dedication. 
 
On this epic adventure, Murphy dispensed with the bike and instead travelled through ethiopia on a mule called Jock. Named after her publisher, it accompanied her through most of the journey, but towards the end she switched to a donkey. This trip was perhaps the most hazardous that she had undertook as she was subjegated to three armed robberies during her travels. This is a rare book in this condition and particularly so signed by Dervla Murphy to the title page.
