Great Contemporaries by Winston S. Churchill 1st Revised edition 1938

First revised edition published by Thornton Butterworth in 1938. This is a very good copy. The very rare wrapper with a portrait of Churchill on the front is complete and hasn't been price clipped. That said, there is extensive taping to the reverse of the jacket along the top and bottom edges. The back panel also has a vertical crease across the jacket. It does present well and nothing is missing of this very rare wrapper. The book itself is excellent with sharp square boards. There are no marks or wear on the boards at all. There is light sporadic foxing to the side text block. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the inside board but no pen and the pages are clean.
 
The first revised edition, following the publication of the first edition in 1937. This revised version includes for the  first time four additional biographies of Lord Fisher, Charles Parnell, Lord Baden Powell and Frankin Roosevelt. A rare book to find with the jacket.  [Woods A43b]
