The novelist Muriel Spark attended James Gillespie's High School from 1923-1935. She contributed poetry on a number of occasions to the school magazine. She would have been 16 years old when this edition of the magazine was put together. She contributes a small poem called 'dust'. She is credited in her maiden name Camberg. Spark based the main character of her 1961 novel 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' on one of her teachers, Christina Kay at Gillespies. A scarce and collectible item, with these high school magazines relating to Muriel Spark not appearing in commerce that often.
