SIGNED association copies. First edition. Two Arnold Wesker titles, both double-signed with dedications to Tom Maschler. Fears of Fragmentation is in fine condition. The plain dust wrapper is clean and highly attractive. It is without notable signs of wear and has been price clipped. The boards are free from chips and marks and the text blocks are bright and white. It features Tom Maschler’s Ex Libris label designed by Quentin Blake on the front pastedown. The author’s signature is signed “To Tom Maschler, From Arnold Wesker, March 1971”, the second signature is with a lengthy inscription, reading: “My dear Tom, This is your book because, and of all these lectures & bits; you saw these & their binding background of 42 [A2?]- - - and that’s a real publisher for you. Love Arnold”. The author’s black ink is visibly running out as the inscription was written, being amended in some places with blue ink. Overall, this unique association copy is in fine condition. Said the Old Man to the Young Man is in near fine condition. The bright wrapper is clean and without notable signs of wear, aside from light rubbing present; it has not been price clipped. The boards are free from chips and marks and the text blocks are bright and white. The author’s signature is inscribed again to publisher Tom Maschler, reading: “To dear old faithful and first-of-all, Tom, I really do think I’ll settle down to prose- Love Arnold 11.11.78”. It is inscribed in blue ink and the first of two signatures. The second, in blue ink is without inscription. Overall, this is a near fine copy with a strong association from one literary giant to another.
